Conduct a Patch Test

Before undertaking any major moisture remediation project, it is essential to perform a patch test in order to assess the true extent of the damage.
How to do a moisture test on walls?

This process involves isolating a small area of the affected surface and subjecting it to a series of controlled tests.
The results obtained will provide valuable information about the severity of the problem and the most appropriate course of action to take.
Procedure:

      - Select a representative area of the affected surface that is at least 1 square meter in size.

      - Clean the surface thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris.

      - Apply a moisture barrier (such as plastic sheeting) over the selected area.

      - Seal the edges of the barrier with tape to create an airtight seal.

      - Wait for 24 hours.

      - Remove the moisture barrier and inspect the surface for any signs of moisture (such as condensation, mold, or water stains).

Assessment of Results:

      - **If there is no visible moisture:** The surface is likely not experiencing a moisture problem.

      - **If there is light condensation:** The surface may be experiencing a minor moisture problem that can be addressed with simple measures such as increased ventilation or dehumidification.

      - **If there is heavy condensation or other signs of moisture:** The surface is likely experiencing a significant moisture problem that requires professional attention.
